So Since we are getting ready to enter the holiday season this week with Thanksgiving, I think that it is only right to address the one thing that is bound to follow after eating all that amazing food.
(Insert dramatic music here)
Now if you are anything like me, the smallest thing can allow you turn into a puffer fish. At least that’s been the case with me. So today I wanted to quickly share today some of my ways of getting rid of that terrible and unforgiving bloat after Thanksgiving.
Now I know that does not sound exciting at all, but trust me, it is a requirement. One thing that a lot of people do not know is when we are holding on to “Water Weight” it is not because we are drinking too much water. It’s in fact the opposite. Our body holds on to the water that we do have in our system until we replenish it with more. Strange concept, I know but that’s the science behind it.
If you do not like drinking water, there are things you can do to make it a little easier, such as adding fruit to your water, or water flavorings.
If you really want to get rid of that bloat, this is the most important step.
2.Minimize the bad stuff
If you find drinking water a troublesome task, you may find this difficult as well. Speaking from experience, it is very easy to gain weight during the holidays, VERY EASY. Not just no minor fluctuation in your weight either, but gaining a good 15-20 pounds. To prevent that
you do have to have a realistic mindset that you will enjoy the holidays but you will not go on a downhill spiral from there when it comes to your health goals.
If you want to avoid the bloat as well as going on a downward spiral back to bad habits you do have to minimize the bad stuff.
Eliminate the really salty and high sodium foods for a few days while you are fighting the post thanksgiving bloat ( you don’t want to over consume too much sodium anyways)
No sweets or caffeine. I feel like I’m starting to sound like a Debby Downer, but your body will thank you later.
3.Use the restroom
This is something that is almost taboo to talk about, and uncomfortable to talk about, but you do need to be using the restroom regularly (as in daily) and if you aren’t than you have a problem that you do need to address immediately.
Now most of us who are consuming the average diet are unable to use the restroom as regularly as we should be, but there are plenty of ways to detox our system.

4.Enjoy the holiday wisely.
I do not want anyone out there to deprive themselves of enjoying the holidays. I know I definitely will not be doing that. I know its hard when it comes to eating all of that amazing food, not to mention the leftovers. Just be sure to remain mindful of how much you are eating. Remember we are not dieting, but this is a lifestyle change!
