As you may already know, we are entering into flu season and it is so easy to get sick especially if you are someone who goes to the gym in the winter to workout! I wanted to share a few tips on how to be sure you stay healthy in the gym ( Or anywhere for that matter) during flu season. As much as I would love to call this a “bulletproof” method, it’s not, but my hope is that these tips will help you!
Sanitize the equipment you workout with. EVERYTHING!
I know this one may be a little self explanatory, but it is something that we can tend to overlook especially when we workout with weights. Most gyms have their own sanitizer but I suggest carrying your own with you, just to be sure you know lol
Carry an extra set of gym clothes with you.
Working out during this time of year can be a bit tricky, because you may go to the gym dressed for the weather but then you get in there and it feels like summer once you start working out, then you end up drenching your warm clothes. I try to keep a change of clothes and a hoodie with me that I will keep dry just to be sure I’m not exposing my pores to different elements.
Keep your Immune System Strong
This one is important to me, because the moment your immune system weakens will be the moment you will suffer. Now its alot that contributes to how strong your immune system is and what will be the trigger that will weaken it but some of the main points that I try to remember during the winter months are:
Y’all know how this has been my struggle the last few months, but it’s just as important to drink at least 8 glasses of water during the winter just like in the summer.
Try to eat as healthy as possible:
Excessive sugar and bad foods will already leave us feeling sluggish but I have noticed within myself when I eat bad I do tend to get sick. Eating clean throughout the year is simply the best way to go.
Get At Least 8 hours of sleep every night
Being exhausted and tired can easily lead to getting sick, it has happened to me before.
Get your vitamins in
Try to be sure that you are getting all of the essential vitamins that your body need, especially Vitamin C.
